Allison Playfair

Rev. Allison was welcomed to the Carlisle & Kilbride communities of faith in October 2020. She comes to us after serving at St. Paul's, Dundas, and St. Stephen United, Burlington. She has a B.A. in child development and experience in youth ministry. Her M.Div. was completed at Emmanuel College.

Allison has a strong commitment to pastoral care for all ages, as evidenced by her compassionate notes, phone calls and porch vists. She is supportive of Outreach activities of all kinds to strengthen our service to the congregation and the community, and is frequently found "hands-on" amidst all our other volunteers. She embraces new technologies, and we look forward to her bold leadership with confidence and rejoicing.

Janet Witty-Heeley

Janet is often the first person you will meet, by phone or in person, at our church. She has worked here since 1994.

Janet’s role includes providing information and helping people make connections, coordinating the use of the facilities, keeping track of the church’s financial records, keeping our meeting records up to date and producing the weekly worship bulletin. You will find her in the church office on the second floor.

Janet knows the Carlisle community well as she lived here for more than 22 years. Prior to that, she earned degrees in microbiology at the University of Guelph.

Janet is married to Rick, has three adult children and is enjoying the new role of being a grand-mother. Her varied interests include teaching music, volunteering at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, golfing, trying new things and growing in her faith.

Office hours for Janet are Tuesday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Heather Olavesen

Heather is one of our local musicians who recently returned to this area after studying at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and the University of Victoria, where she obtained master's degrees in English and music composition, respectively.

She has been playing piano for over twenty years. As the story goes, when she was six she started talking about taking piano lessons and, when they finally got tired of hearing about it, her parents gave in and signed her up at a music studio. Of course, she's never looked back! She particularly enjoys collaborating with other musicians as an accompanist.

Heather provides music direction at Carlisle United Church by rehearsing with our chancel choir weekly and by playing music during Sunday and special services.

Besides enjoying collaborating with other musicians as an accompanist, Heather also loves teaching, editing, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, poking about in old historical places, reading extensively, and doing anything "artsy".
