CUC Sewing Circle - Hospital Gowns
In April 2020, our Sewing Circle was asked by a representative of the United Church to help with an initiative to supply hospital gowns for the PeopleCare chain of long term care facilties. The gowns were in kit form, supplied by Lens Mill Stores. The Sewing Circle finished 210 gown kits in very short order and delivered these to the PeopleCare location in Waterloo.
Also in April 2020, the Sewing Circle received a request from Mount Nemo Christian Nursing Home to modify a set of hospital gowns, from short-sleeved to long-sleeved. Having completed the modifications, we went on to create a set of new hospital gowns for Mount Nemo. The Mount Nemo "Spring Bedsheet Collection" is all made from donated cotton and bed sheets, and is the work of some very creative seamstresses!
We have since made gowns for individuals and nursing homes. All are made from donated materials and supplied without charge to those who need them. Sincere thanks to all who have donated material and bed sheets to help with this work.
