The Carlisle United Church Sunday morning Children’s Program welcomes youth 4 years and older to join us in exploring faith.
Each Sunday morning we gather for a children’s story during service, On the second Sunday of each month and on other Sundays in the church calendar, the children then proceed to the Gathering Room on the main level of the church to share in our children’s programming. Caregivers are not required to accompany children, but are always welcome.
The program is facilitated by enthusiastic members of the congregation—teens to retirees, individuals or pairs—who are each responsible for one month of Sundays to explore a favourite bible story or theme. Lessons incorporate a variety of interactive activities including prayer, chats, stories, crafts, games, music, science, cooking, and occasionally even time outdoors in our wonderful “backyard”. On all other Sundays, a craft activity is provided for children at the front of the sanctuary during the worship service.
The group is generally small, ranging from 1 to 15 children. But no matter the numbers, the children and their enthusiasm to share life’s joys, eagerness to learn, willingness to support each other and commitment to grow in faith are inspirational.
