Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord

(South Side, Choir Loft)

Bible Reference:

Psalm 100:1-2

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come into His presence with singing.” (Psalm 100:1-2, King James Version)

This window was made by Bullas Glass Ltd. of Kitchener in 1999. The central medallion depicts an angel holding a scroll of music and blowing a long trumpet. An angel holding a trumpet is often assumed to be the Archangel Gabriel, who is known as the announcer of important things such as the Annunciation to Mary and the Last Day of Judgement. But in this case, the female angel and the scroll of music suggest a less Apocalyptic announcement ~ perhaps just the enjoyment of joyful sound ~ a common theme for a choir loft and an appropriate dedication to an individual who loved music.
